Football is "Special" in the Quarto Tempo of Mashfrog and Fiorentina
The documentary "Quarto Tempo - All the Rest of Life" was presented, a journey inside the locker room of differently-abled athletes, celebrating an extraordinary community.
The journey into a special locker room to tell the story of a special team: the athletes of Fiorentina's Special team, and the incredible community that shares their passion for football, composed of coaches, families, and friends.
This is the documentary "Quarto Tempo - All the Rest of Life", produced by Mashfrog and ACF Fiorentina, named after the amateur sports association in Campi Bisenzio that promotes social and educational activities through sports. It’s a product that is part of the long-standing collaboration with the Viola club, which began in 2019 and has helped to tell and enhance the club's most significant projects.
"When my family and I first arrived at Fiorentina," said Viola president Rocco Commisso, "we were immediately struck by the reality of our Special teams. I am deeply moved by their dedication, their enthusiasm, and their genuine way of living football, which is why we’ve tried to continuously support them in their daily efforts. This was also a project very dear to Joe Barone, who had a truly special bond with these players."
"This documentary and its protagonists perfectly capture the true essence of sport, something increasingly rare to find," said Alessandro Ferrari, Fiorentina's general director. "It’s the combination of competition with friendship, the mental and physical well-being that comes from taking care of oneself and others, and the sense of belonging. Quarto Tempo is for us a constant source of teaching and inspiration. We want it to reach an ever-larger audience, and we believe this documentary can be a valuable tool for that."
The presentation of "Quarto Tempo - All the Rest of Life" took place over two evenings: a family premiere on September 26th, at the Estra Pad of Viola Park, attended by President Rocco Commisso, his wife Catherine, DG Alessandro Ferrari, and the athletes from the men's and women's first teams, youth teams, and the club’s staff. The official screening followed on Saturday, September 28th, at the “Calcio Comunità Educante” Festival, a showcase of films dedicated to sports with a focus on inclusivity.
"The documentary doesn’t pretend or intend to delve into themes of diversity," explained Davide Lemma, director and screenwriter of Quarto Tempo and Head of Audio-Video Area for the Communication BU at Mashfrog Group. "Rather, it aims to give the audience a sense of the atmosphere in a locker room where there is no conformity or hypocrisy. The professionalism of the coaches is top-notch, and the competitive spirit is strong, but one fundamental and non-negotiable rule prevails: fun."
In the 30 minutes of gameplay and interviews, immersed in the Quarto Tempo community, much of Mashfrog’s video production expertise is on display, with editing by Antonio Bellusci and Roberto Tafuro, sound design by Riccardo Cocozza, video titling by Luca Vitalone, and production coordination led by Alice Pizzoli.
For Mashfrog, collaborating with Fiorentina on a project like Quarto Tempo was a unique opportunity to tell inspiring stories that strengthen the bond between sports and community. Sharing the commitment and passion of the Special team is not only a tribute to the Viola colors but also a testament to the essential role of sports as a vehicle for inclusion and participation for everyone.
