Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are at the core of Italy’s economic fabric, featuring over 4.4 million businesses, generating roughly 67% of the country’s GDP and employing 80% of the national workforce. Such a key role makes SMEs a fundamental element of our territory’s economy, but also for its environmental and social responsibility.

Over the years, the topic of sustainability has steadily gained traction, becoming a fundamental element in corporate strategies. Businesses are called to consider their own environmental, social, and governance (ESG) footprint, fostering processes leading to sustainable development. For SMEs, adopting sustainability policies goes beyond mere ethics, representing an opportunity for growth and competitiveness.

Starting from 2024, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requires businesses with over 250 employees or a turnover exceeding 50 million euros to file a Sustainability Report. Such a document is much more than red tape, but rather, a powerful lynchpin to improve transparency, corporate reputation, and operational efficiency. For SMEs that will have to comply by 2026, this step represents a giant leap towards a more conscious and responsible business management.

Mashfrog Group is well aware of the importance of sustainability, and as such has been publishing its Sustainability Report for over five years. Such a commitment is a testament to our dedication to coupling financial results with social and environmental responsibility. Our Sustainability Report is more than a simple document, but is a glimpse into our way of working, shedding light on how we create value for all our stakeholders through sustainable and cutting-edge processes.

Last but not least, sustainability is more than a simple regulatory requirement but is an exciting opportunity for Italian SMEs. Implementing a sustainability report is an investment in the future, guaranteeing a positive impact on the environment, society, and economy, while helping place the building blocks of a better world for future generations.
