Elisa, a story of a new beginning at Mashfrog
Having joined Mashfrog just a few months ago, Elisa De Mattia shares her first impressions of working in a dynamic and rapidly expanding professional environment.
Elisa De Mattia, Senior Project Manager in the Enterprise Digital Evolution BU, shares her thoughts on her new role in the field of Business Intelligence (BI) and why she considers Mashfrog an ideal place to balance work and personal life.
How long have you been working at Mashfrog, and what is your role?
I joined at the end of May 2024 and currently work as a Senior Manager. My main focus is on Business Intelligence, primarily on SAP platforms, but I am also involved in broader and more innovative projects requiring management skills. Over the past months, I have worked on major projects, particularly in the railway sector, and had the chance to engage in presales activities in other industries and for different clients. This mix of technical and managerial aspects has been stimulating right from the start and has allowed me to explore new professional challenges.
Your career has been very consistent with your university studies. How did you choose this profession?
I have a degree in mathematics, which I find a natural choice for my path. Since my early years in the workforce, I’ve been involved in consulting within the Business Intelligence field, mainly on SAP platforms, but not exclusively. I've always been deeply interested in analysis and the ability to understand complex problems in depth—skills I believe are closely linked to my university education. Over time, this analytical approach has helped me grow professionally, transitioning from more technical roles to managerial and strategic ones. To me, being an analyst means being able to read and understand data to propose solutions to address real-world problems.
What differences have you noticed at Mashfrog compared to other companies you’ve worked for?
The first thing that struck me was Mashfrog’s size, which I consider perfect for ensuring both close relationships among colleagues and a sense of belonging. I have worked in very large organizations, where you often feel like just a number, and in smaller companies, where involvement tends to be greater. Mashfrog combines the best of both worlds: it is large enough to offer growth opportunities yet small enough to foster genuine human relationships and recognition of individual contributions. Additionally, the fact that Mashfrog is experiencing strong growth excites me, as I feel I can actively contribute to its development.
Mashfrog places a strong emphasis on employee well-being. Have you experienced this?
Yes, and I have had tangible confirmation of this. During my first months here, I went through a difficult personal time, and I found an environment genuinely attentive to people. My colleagues and managers not only supported me but also made me feel comfortable sharing my struggles. This kind of human attention is not a given and makes a huge difference. At Mashfrog, there is a real culture of well-being that goes beyond words and translates into concrete actions. I feel lucky to be part of a context where the human aspect is so important.
Another feature of Mashfrog is the hybrid work model. What do you think about it?
I think the hybrid model is an excellent compromise. I come from experiences where remote work was already established, so it wasn’t new to me, but I appreciated Mashfrog’s flexible approach. I believe it is crucial to balance remote work with in-person meetings, especially for brainstorming sessions or important discussions. For instance, I find initiatives like company retreats and internal BU meetings extremely useful, as they allow us to better connect with colleagues and foster continuous exchanges on project-related topics and methodologies. This work model offers a balance that values both personal and professional needs.
What are your interests outside of work?
I enjoy reading a lot, exploring different genres, and discovering young emerging writers. I love organizing DIY trips with my family or friends who share my passion for outdoor sports (especially running) and hiking. I adore taking long walks, particularly by the sea, where I spend much of my time and summer remote work. I am incurably curious, so I occasionally try out alternative or innovative sports activities.
Finally, what are your expectations for your professional future?
At the moment, I feel fully part of a larger, ever-evolving project. My main expectation is for my professional growth to align with that of the company. I see Mashfrog as a dynamic reality, with clear leadership and ambitious goals. For now, I don’t have specific objectives, but I believe the foundations are excellent for continuing to build a stimulating and rewarding path.
