The documentary "Quarto Tempo – Tutto il resto della vita", created for ACF Fiorentina by director and screenwriter Davide Lemma, tells the story of a journey inside a genuine locker room, where a unique team takes shape: a team made up of differently-abled athletes and an extraordinary community that shares their passion for soccer. It's a network of coaches, families, friends, and authentic bonds that transforms every action into meaning and every match into an opportunity to go beyond one’s limits. In this unique space, diversity becomes a strength, and soccer is experienced in a real, intense, and powerful way. With a respectful and deeply engaged lens, the documentary shines a spotlight on an everyday life that inspires. Mashfrog Group chose to share this story to celebrate sport as a tool for inclusion, connection, and transformation.
A documentary about inclusion in sports
The documentary takes its name from the amateur association of the same name based in Campi Bisenzio. Here, sport becomes a tool for social and educational empowerment. This project is part of the collaboration launched in 2019 with ACF Fiorentina and continues to highlight the organization’s most meaningful initiatives.
“When my family and I arrived at Fiorentina,” said club president Rocco Commisso, “we were immediately struck by the reality of our special teams. I’m moved by their dedication, their enthusiasm, and their genuine way of experiencing soccer. That’s why we’ve always tried to provide our support and to stand by them consistently in their daily lives. This was also a project deeply loved by Joe Barone, who had a truly special bond with these young people.”
“This documentary and its protagonists perfectly embody the true essence of sport, something increasingly rare to find,” said Alessandro Ferrari, General Director of Fiorentina. “It’s the combination of competitiveness and friendship, the mental and physical well-being that comes from taking care of oneself and others, the sense of belonging. Quarto Tempo is a constant source of learning and inspiration for us. We want it to reach an ever wider audience, and we believe this content can be a powerful tool.”
“The documentary doesn’t claim or intend to delve deeply into the topic of diversity,” explains Davide Lemma, “but rather presents itself as an attempt to convey to the audience the atmosphere of a locker room where there is no conformity or hypocrisy, where the coaches’ professionalism is extremely high and the competitive spirit is strong—but one fundamental and non-negotiable principle prevails: having fun.”
